Newbie advice needed

Featured Replies

Hi, long time looker, first time user. I have an 87 Gl Wagon 4wd EA82 dual range with a few things that I cannot figure out.

1. Hill Holder leaking-

I cannot seem to find the right o-ring size for rebuild. Am I doing something wrong?

2. Carbeurator adj- What are the factory settings? Where is the fuel/air mixture screw? I am running too rich.

any advice would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Matt

Hill holder - dont rebuild it, find a used unit. prolly be a lot easier. If I remember correctly, the hill holder unit is built into the master cylinder right? (At the library, or I'd go check on my wagon) When you get the "new"/used master cylinder on there, leave the hill holder unhooked. With a working hand brake you dont need a hill holder.

The carb mixture screw is capped off on the front of the carb. It has a 1/2" or 5/8" cap over it with a slight indentation in the middle of the cap (Might even have a slight X across the top of it.) Make sure when you drill out the cap, you dont drill into the mixture screw, or spin the mixture screw with the drill bit. I used a 3/8" drill bit when I drilled mine out.

Good luck

Thanks for the tech, these problems have been driving me crazy. The hill holder is a separate unit directly under the MC, with some sort of linkage to the clutch. Is this linkage necessary? They want $200 for a used one, that's what I paid for the whole car! I can live w/o it.

Why in the hell did they cap off the fuel/air? I thought that I was a moron bc I could not find it.

How about this one: RF wheel has slight wobble @ 35, 65, & 85 mph. Replaced outer tie rod ends, front end alignment, balanced the wheel.

What is it? Bent wheel? CV? rack n pinion? wheel bearing?

Thanks again,

-M
