September 28, 200520 yr Have patience, I've not tackled anything related to air conditioning before. Do I simply put on goggles and loosen the nut on the condenser outlet? And when recharging how do I know when preasure is correct? Is there a guage I can put on the low side fitting? Ryan
September 28, 200520 yr Well, you could do that...but that is environmentally irresponsible. It's actually is illegal in most places. I would suggest taking it to a shop, they hook up recovery equipment to suck it all out. Shouldn't cost very much just to have it dishcarged. I worked in the HVAC business for a while...atleast commercially there are very large fines for dishcarging freon in to the atmosphere (air).
September 28, 200520 yr Author I'm not one to pollute so thanks for the info. Although I was under the impression the newer (134a) systems were friendly. Is this not the case? Ryan
September 28, 200520 yr Sorry, I was thinking the older stuff. I'd still have a shop do it, or atleast talk with one before cranking open the nob.
