I have heard the CV joints flog out much quicker with the 3" lift kit fitted. Anyone out there tell me more?

All the lift kits I've seen are body lifts. They do not affect the gemoetry of your suspension. The only reason you'd go through axles faster in the front is because now you are offroading your lifted Subaru :brow: Not from the lift it's self but from the added abuse of offroad driving.
