Windshield washer pump

Featured Replies

I have a 2001 Forester. The pump for the front washer just went out.

The rear works just fine. Checked the lines (all clean) checked the fuses (all OK)

Any ideas what it may be? Do I have to buy a new pump? Does any one know of a good used pump in the Pacific Northwest Area?

Not sure if you can take apart the pump, but if you can, you can try that. Maybe something got lodged in the impeller.

If not, just pickup a used windshield washer tank & pump at a junkyard. You should be able to get one for cheap. then just swap tanks, or swap the motor.

84wetsoob,

Before you go and buy anything, pull the wiring connector at the pump on the reservoir and see if the contacts are corroded and just need cleaning. Been there, done that, more than once! Good luck!

it's a $10 (or so) part from any auto dealer... it's nearly universal fit.

Later,

Peter
