Leaking oil from several spots - need a decent mechanic in the bay area

Featured Replies

All,

Long time lurker but first time posting here.

I have a '97 Outback with 131k on it and recently I noticed that it has been losing a lot of oil and there's a burning smell coming from the engine.

I had it diagnosed by the dealer and it was found out that it was leaking from these areas: 1. Oil pump 2.valve cover gasket 3.seperator palte & 4. Headgasket

The dealer gave me a quote of $3100 to have everything fixed.

My question is: should i have it checked by someone else to get a 2nd opinion(cost me $75 for the diagnosis btw..) and any recommendation for mechanics in the bay area?

Thanks!

What part of the Bay Area: San Jose? Marin? Oakland? San Ramon?
