Hatch 2wd to 4wd swap?

Featured Replies

I saw a nice hatch for sale in good shape but it is 2wd.I just thought I would see how hard it is to convert it over to 4wd.I realize I will need to change the tranny and put in a rear diff and drive shaft and the tank is different. I just wanted to see if there are all the mounting holes underneath of the 2wd as there is on the 4wd like for the rear mustache bar.I know that the 2wd won't have the lights on the dash for the when the 4wd is active. What else am I forgeting?

From what I've read on here; it's a lot harder than an EA82 2WD to 4WD swap. There's a couple threads already on the subject that describe better than I can explain from memory.

I did it on an EA82 platform and it was pretty straight forward. Only holes not drilled were the mustache bar mounts. However the EA81 platform is quite different :(
