fj401968
I have horrible clutch slip! where is a good place to get a new clutch? Ditto that. I have recently acquired an '87 GL Wagon... very little rust. runs well but very weak clutch. I've been driving it to work every day but I'm really having to baby it along. I'm debating whether to tackle this job myself and if so, what is the best source for a decent clutch overhaul kit. Tracy
Snowman
I've usually just gone to NAPA or wherever, but you might try thepartsbin.com. Being kinda heavy, shipping might offset any reduction in price though. Another thing to consider is getting a kevlar clutch disk. They have similar holding power to regular ones, but it's virtually impossible to ruin the disk from slipping under heavy load...just let it cool off and it's good as new. A decent clutch rebuilder should be able to make one up for you, and the guy I've talked to said it would cost an extra $100 or so, which I see as being worth it.
