Does AT starter motor fit to MT gearbox?

Featured Replies

So, does starter motor from automatic gearbox fit to manual gearbox (and flywheel)? Motor is from '91-model and the manual gearbox is '92

Actually, that's a good question. I don't think it will, but I've still got my AT starter from before my AT to MT swap, and I have the MT starter out. So I should be able to test things for you.

It will fit, but it won't work. The input shaft is a different length. I have a couple spare of both. $25 shipped. Larry

Tee Koo, are you talking about the EA engine, or did you swap in the EJ?

Most folks in this forum are EJers, so I don't know if these answers hold true if you have an EA engine still in the Leone.

I still have the EA-series engine in my Leone, but not for long. At the moment I'm making the fitting plate between EA-gearbox and EJ-engine and then everything is ready for the swap. :)

But the reason why I asked this question was that I'm selling a starter motor from AT gearbox of EJ-series and one possible buyer asked me if it would also fit to EJ-series MT gearbox. But, can the input shaft be swapped from MT starter to AT starter?
