The cel in my wife's '97 Legacy wagon came on the other day and she took it to a local general repair shop. They are telling us that it needs a new speed sensor in the transmission and that the trans must be removed and disassembled to install it.

Does this seem right? He showed me the loom with the sensor attached but it didn't look to me like something that would be inside the auto trans.
