Passenger airbag

Featured Replies

I have a 2004 Subaru Forester with dual airbags. I have a 10 year old, who is rather big, but needs to sit up front. Many cars have on off switches for the passenger airbag, but the 04' Forester does not. Are there any options to get one installed that anyone knows about. It is legal to have one installed if there is aneed, and I have one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks CJ

i know that i filled out the required forms.

i know that i obtained approval to have an on/off switch installed

and i know THAT NOBODY WOULD INSTALL IT

due to liability reasons.

if you are really worried about your sons safety you have 2 options

1) make him sit in the back seat

2) disconnect the airbag sensor on that side of the car

i dont think you'll find a shop willing to tamper with an airbag on/off switch

even if you have forms from the feds saying it's "okay"

good luck!

Of course, if you disconnect anything in an airbag system the warning light will stay on constantly, and the driver will never know if a real problem developes.......

This is really your best bet.
