My buddy has a 99 or 00 RS. Previous owner put an aftermarket intake on. The PCV system has also been mucked with. However, he is all of a sudden hearing backfiring when he accelerates, from what sounds like through the intake. CEL is on, gonna get that checked out. I offered to look before he drives it any more, what should I look for? I'm thinking ignition system, specifically his spark plugs and wires.
