Display Panel Wiring--Messed up During Stereo Install!

Featured Replies

I have a ’98 subaru outback. Recently replaced car stereo (actually the thief who stole the OG stereo helped us with the removal, we just had to put the new one in). My question is this, after installing the stereo, my gauge display panel no longer lights up. The fuse had completely blown, we replaced the fuse but that immediately blew too. I’m guessing something happened during the wiring stage. Does anyone know what the wiring looks like or where it is for the display panel??? Thanks in advance!

My info shows that power is supplied to the radio illumination pin by a wht/grn wire that goes to pin 1 on the radio. The return wire is a yel/blu on pin 7 and it goes to a illumination module by the steering column. Fuse number 3 supplies the circuit to pin 1. I would suspect you have miswired the new unit somehow. You should be able to prove that by disconnecting the radio and then see if the fuse still blows. If it doesn't then the problem is with the radio wiring. If the fuse still blows then there is a problem elsewhere on the illumination circuit.
