sump guard for 98 legacy o.b. -other years fit?

I was working on my girlfriends 98 Legacy Outback for the first time (I guess we are at a new level in our relationship!) and notice the sump guard plate was missing. Maybe it interfered with someone's oil changing .

Before I head off to the wrecker to find a donor, does anyone know if any/all other models and years will fit? The hole pattern looks about the same as both my 91 Loyale and my deceased (but not forgotten) 83 GL.

There wasn't a 98 loyale. Do you mean legacy?

 

There really wasn't a "guard" from the factory, just an under engine plastic cover to help with areodynamic drag losses.

 

If it's a 98 legacy, and you want to replace the cover, a cover from a 95-99 legacy should work.

i hate those silly plastic thing... they always get in the way, or you forget to bolt them back up and you're driving along, wind catches it... lemme tell you, you get NO traction on pieces of the car attached to it...

Yeah, it's a legacy of course, not loyale. I was thinking one thing and typing another...

I just assumed it would have a substantial metal guard. I don't think I'll bother getting a replacement if it's just plastic though.

if you wanted to add a metal skid plate,you could do what i did.i got a plate for a 91 loyale from someone here(91loyale) did some banging and i had to elongate the holes in the back.drilled some new holes in the rad support and bolted(screwed)

this is how much space i got out when useing the spacers in the back to drop it down.
