Should the backup switch have oil on it?

Probably a dumb question, but should the business end of the transmission backup switch have gear oil on it? I wasn't sure either way, since it does sit right in the tranny and presumably gets pressed by some part of the reverse gear setup which are presumably protected by gear oil...

 

Just want to check before I throw a new switch in!
