hard starting and engine code problems

Featured Replies

i am experiencing intermittent hard starting problems. they only occur once or less a week, when car is fully warmed up. engine turns over, but fails to start. eventually i can get it started by pumping gas vigorously. check engine light then comes on with camshaft position sensor error code. have had local garage turn off light, but a week later it happens again. 96 impreza 2.2. anyone have ideas? thanx

If you get a camshaft position sensor code and you turn off the «light», it's like killing the messenger...:brolleye:

Just replace it, it's a five minute repair, one connector and one bolt. The sensor in on the left (driver) front side of the engne not far from the oil dip stick.

Yep! Replace the cam sensor. Sooner or later it won't start at all. Then you will have a tow bill too.
