'03 Forester timing belt

Featured Replies

I have an '03 Forester with 70K miles on it. Owner's manual says to replace timing belt at 105K miles, but I read in a Chilton manual that timing belt on 2.5 L engine should be replaced at 60K miles. Whom should I believe? How difficult is it to change?

the newest 2.5 L i've owned was a 1998 and the dealer confirmed the 105k interval (i was incredulous as the longest interval i had ever heard of was 60k).

i don't think it's too difficult provided you know how to work on cars.

regards,

gregg

well being that the owners manual is produced by the manufacturer (Subaru), i would believe it more than i would a "(dis)repair manual that is produced by an outside company.
