Knock sensor location

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me where the knock sensor is located on a 1987 Subaru XT. The Chilton book simply says on the block.

The knock sensor is the last code I have to clear and the car should run fine. Are there any secrects to a bad knock sensor, kinda like how the coolant sensor is always just the corroded wires?

Thanks,

Dan

Its on the top of the block and the rear, next to the turbo, in front of the bellhousing.

Some have two wires and some one. 86 has two.

Thanks,

I saw that sensor but hoped it might be somewhere else. Looks like I have to take a lot of things off just to get to it.

I priced one at Auto Zone $149.99. Ouchh, is there anywhere else cheaper?

Thanks,

Dan

Junk yard. I had to pull the intake to get mine out. Luckily I was pulling the motor.
