Impreza EJ20E non turbo AWD tranny?

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I am new on Subaru world, and are coming from rockcrawling world.

I own a Subaru Impreza Wagon 2.0 with the EJ20E engine, AWD M/T with low gear case.

Well, I live in SA and got that you only receive the 2.2 powered Waggy, so I can not find the right info about my engine and transmission.

I would like to know what transmission I have, how strong it is to handle a 2.0 Turbo engine, what cars shares this tranny and how easy is to swap my engine with a WRX engine.

Thanks in advance for your help.-

info

VIN: JFGF8LJ4VG0.....

Engine: EJ20ENW...

Tranny: TY752XRCAA

Model: GF8EL5J

All EJ trannys are interchangable. EJ18, EJ20, Ej22, EJ22T, EJ25, all of them bolt up.

The swap to a turbo motor has been done a few times before. Just get all the wiring from the donor car.

By the way, the tranny you have is coveted by us in North America, because we never got dual range EJ trannys, just single range.

What sort of info are you looking to know about the transmission? You should be able to swap a WRX motor into your car. You'll have some wiring issues, but it should bolt up.

Thanks guys.Main question is how strong my tranny is compared with a turbo tranny. And if is able to handle well the power of a turbo engine.-Rgds

I would imagine the stength is along the same lines of a 2.5 RS transmission...which is 'ok' to about 200 flywheel horsepower with TONS of abuse.

Properly driven...I would say its fine for upto 250 as long as you are not abusive to it.
