March 6, 200620 yr Saturday the 4th of March 2006...we bought a used 2003 Subaru Forester XS (Blue/Titanium). I think it adopted us more than we bought it. Love it...just got the pre-purchase inspection results, clean as a whistle (well almost). Interestingly...the seller thought he was selling an "X" model, he bought it new from the dealer in '03 as an "X" model "with several upgrades", and it's badged an "X". After having done three months research for this purchase, I know what an XS package includes. I checked out the car on Friday afternoon, took the VIN and ran a CarFax on it. Dang...it IS indeed an XS!!! 56,000 highway commuter miles. Typical scratches and dings here and there (few). Needs new plugs and a battery soon (according to the pre-purchase inspection). I'm a happy camper...I now belong to a Forester! **** Best reccomendations for replacement plugs for this baby?? ****
March 6, 200620 yr Only place the 2003 had XS on the body was the tailgate. You ran a Carfax. I would just check to insure the rear wasn't repaired anyway. It could have been damaged where a police report or insurance wasn't involved in the repair. Another way to tell: 2003 X had dark gray rough bumpers 2003XS bumpers were steel gray smooth (sounds like what you have) 2003XS premium had body colored bumpers In any Case, Best of luck....I have an 04 XS premium 5 speed. my 7th Subaru.

March 7, 200620 yr Author This is crazy...only had her for 2 days and she's already nicknamed herself "BLUBARU". Got home today and she ran right out with the camera and started taking pictures of herself (smart girl even figured out the self timer). I expect she'll register here and start complaining about me before too long: She's most definitely an XS...regardless of what her rear "X" end says.
