paulivan
A search did't turn up much info for testing cruise control system. Does anyone know the procedure for checking the cruise system? How about just checking the pump/actuator part? I get no action from the cruise at all except light on at the switch. Do I need an electronic test code reader? Thanks. NoahDL88
Make sure that the little rubber stoppers that activate the cancel switches on the clutch pedal and the brake pedal are intact, if there not, the computer will read that you are either always on the brake or the clutch and won't let it engage. paulivan
Thanks for the post! stoppers seem to be o.k. All brake lights work\on light works at switch. All the wires seem to be hooked up. These cruise control components are some expensive items! Any more ideas on where to look next? I want to test the actuator pump and vacuum switch. Electrical circuits...but how to trick the system for testing is my question. PT.
WAWalker
Subaru Select Monitor. I won't trouble shoot a cruise any other way. Not that it can't be done. You will need FSM information.

Cruise control monitors upper stop lamp (AKA center hi-mounted stop lamp)-----make sure it lights up when you press the brake pedal because if that bulb is out you'll have no cruise control.
