well i changed the trans fluid and oil this morning.. drove around town for about 45 min lookin for an oil pump for the brat.. everything was fine till my last stop then it no longer had reverse..

 

it went out in a matter of a mile of driving from the place i had just backed out of...

 

all the other gears even 1st all work fine, just like they did..

 

i know its going into reverse cause i can feel it and see the tach drop, but you give it gas and it slipps so bad its just barely moves..

 

any ideas?

check the fluid level. it could be low. the did stick is hard to read.

 

i had the exact same thing happen, no reverse after the shop replaced the rear trans seal for the drive shaft. the shop replaced the seal and then checked the fluid and said it was fine, did not need any.

 

that was a huge mistake. the fluid level was low, way low, 3.5 qts low. that was a huge mistake. i drove for a couple of months, forward only, and now ready to replace it with used.

well when i changed it i drained 4 qts out and put 4 back in.. then i shoved a bottle of lucas in it on top of that after it started acting up..

 

didn't fix it..
