:( Attention all dedicated ej20 enginge specialists....i have a huge problem...my 02 wrx is grounded...i am having what i think is an electrical problem...i have already replaced two engine coils and before i get two more i wanted others input....my cars ecu is saying that cylinders two n three are misfiring...therefore i changed all spark plugs and changed two coils...please any advice email me at irieman112@hotmail.com ...thanks

How many miles on the engine?

Is it a dead miss? Can you feel it?

Or is it setting the misfire codes with no noticable miss?

More info is better.:)

you can see the engine seizuring...it shakes...after about 3000rpm the check engine light goes off and all seems fine...it is in the lower end and at idle that there is a problem...i changed out the 2 n 3 coils...and i was planning to do some mix n match with 1 n 4

I thought about this a little more, have you checked the crank angle and cam angle sensors? Have you checked the cam pulley that matches to the sensor?

OK, it is a dead miss at idle up to 3000 RPM.

HOW MANY MILES ON ENGINE?

Probably exhaust valves.

Exhaust valve?? What do you think the possibility of two exhaust valves on opposite sides of the engine (in a USA car 1 & 3 are on the pass side and 2 & 4 are on the driver side) would go bad at the same time. Not likely. Please have the timing checked and make sure the timing belt is set correctly. Since the ECU reads input from both the crank and cam sensor, if there is a slight difference the timing will be off. The crank angle sensor is the constant, the cam angle sensor is the variable.

You aren't the one who put the 2004 WRX engine into their 2002 WRX are you?

For one there was no mention of code P0341...................But then again there hasn't been a whole lot of info giving:rolleyes:

I don't think he has pulled the codes, although that would certainly help.

From opening post. "....my cars ecu is saying that cylinders two n three are misfiring..."

Really all I know for sure at this point is that the shotgun diagnostics failed.

More info would be a good thing.

Compression reading from affected cylinders?

For the price of two ignition coils I'm betting you could get a nice compression gage.

Have you checked all vacuum lines checked for vacuum leaks around intake?

How many miles on engine?

Service history of engine?, other than new plugs and coils.

Performance mods?

The WRX tends to encourage spirited driving. Do you run it hard, or drive it like an old lady?:)

Yea, I read that too and was wondering how he knew that, if he does have the codes, telling us that would be very helpful.
