when I put my my automatic trans. in Drive and go down the road it will drop down to 3000 RPM then will spikeup to over 4000 and it will continually do this.

I will assume your foot is not doing this. does it ahve overdrive?

Sounds like a clutch to me. Does it happen in every gear?
