XT Turbo suspension swap

Featured Replies

hey,

So, the airsuspension on my XT turbo is shot and I need to convert it to coilovers.

I want it to sit lower in the front, I can get AWD shocks and FWD schocks, is there a difference? What size spring should I use? (same as rear? 2,5 inch by 11 inch?)

does anybody have pics of a lowered XT? (and what parts are used)

thanks for the help, Joost

the XT front struts i've seen have much larger diameter springs on the front than in the back.

are you buying parts individually or can you buy the entire strut assembly?

i'd get XT FWD or EA82 FWD struts and install those. for future refernce, on the rears you can remove the top plate and flip it upside down to lower it another inch or something.

I can only buy the parts separate and even that is going to be difficult but do-able okay, so I'm going for the XT FWD shocks, only thing left to know now is the spring dimension for the front. I will have to have the spring top mount made by a friend of mine on a lathe because I can't get them as separte parts and complete struts are a no go. btw, I'm the same joost you replied to on the XT6 board, I was just increasing my input by using 2 different boards, thanks for both answers nonetheless!

i knew that was you bouncing around between forums.

you could have someone mail you parts you need. there are top hats, bushings and stuff up there, i'd try to get someone to mail you everything.

yeah, getting someone to mail me the parts would be an option, but that's expensive and I'm almost there... but maybe for the last few bits and pieces it's neccesary... I'll buy the shocks and springs first, then if I need something I'll go look for someone to send me the missing pieces
