Stupid question, wiper removal

Featured Replies

How do you get the wipers off on a 1995 legacy? Its not like anything ive ever seen. I tried doing it in the dark, but it would help if i had a clue on what to do.

Sorry for the retarded question.

Are you trying to remove the entire wiper arm or replace the blade?

The arm is held on by a nut on the stud. Remove the nut and wiggle the arm a little and it comes loose.

The wiper blade is replaced by removing it from the pivot at the end of the arm. The end of the arm is U-shaped. If you lift the arm and rotate the blade part way, you'll see a tab on the underside of the pivot. Press down on the tab and slide the blade toward the open end of the U.

The nut is covered by a little rubber plug. Remove with fingers:burnout:

If you are trying to remove the actual wiper, depending on the brand, you will have to install it differently. It can be confusing. For some wipers, you just slide the hook into it, push it upwards, and it locks. For others you actually have to open up the attachment on the wiper blade itself, put the hook in between it, and then lock the attachment by pushing down on it.

So if you are pushing up/down on the wiper blade and it won't budge, then try prying open the actual wiper attachment itself as that would explain why you are having problems.
