hello all, new to the subaru world. just bought an 88 gl wagon

i see coolant on top of the motor and it overheats any ideas???

it also has a pretty good growl from the front end.it only cost me 300

for the car and really excited to fix and start driving it.many thanks to the helpful people here. and it looke like i will have to change my screen name:headbang:

top of the motor... heater hoses, upper radiator hose, thermostat housing, radiator itself? That's all I can think of...

there is a 1/4" inch hose between the therostathousing andthe top of the block, chances are this is leaking
