Featured Replies

Well the Vortex passed its WOF (warrent of fitness) finally.:headbang:

Only thing noted was that it didn't have a sticker on the space saver tyre saying they were dangerous, but the nice man put a sticker on it for me....

Apart from that though, pretty much flying colours!

Now lets work on a rego and some insurance for a $300NZ car. I was quoted $12 monthly for 3rd party only, sounds ok to me, THe rego is the biggest ouch, at like $80 per 6 months I think.

This business is expensive.....I need to get a job again.....

You think thats expencive?? I have to pay $216AUD for rego and 3rd party property insurance on the Brat (Brumby) every 6 months. And its about the cheapest it gets for any car cos I live in the country and its a utility. Would be like $240 for a sedan. And then I still have to pay for 3rd party personal, at $104 for 6 months.... Costs way too much, but tha might be a good thing, cos I only have 1 car, and thats what they want.

Mm, yea i suppose you've got a point.....

I just checked and its $104 per 6 months rego, and 120 somthing for third party only for 12 months.

I'm thinking that they'll jack the price up when I go to talk to them tomorrow though......

OH well, its another subaru so i'm kinda happy. And another good reason to get a job.

getting insurance is a pain (& costly

) when your under 25. it helps if you can get someone to lean on them, when i was 18 i wanted to insure my vitara, the best i could get myself was $1900 per year on a $12,000 4wd. Dad said if they didn't do better he'd dump $5M worth of liablity insurance he had with them, result was $1100 per year....much better

MM yea, its only 3rd party, and I told them the car was no threat to anyone and I only paid $300 for it.

They said the excess would have been $300, but since I'm under 25 its like $800.

And yea, my parents have many cars and all their farm related things insured with them. So we'll see how it goes.....:-\

I'm suprised they even know what a Vortex is...

Whenever i get quotes for my brumby, they have no idea what it is... all they want to know is, is it a Subaru?

yes,

Ohh, you'll need to pay more then...Is it Turbo?

yes,

OHHHH, you'll need to pay even more! Does it have a suspension mod?

yes,

Holy ************, so you're a boy racer, therefore you need to pay a hell of a lot more than anyone else on the road, because it's the most modified and stolen vehicle on NZ roads and you're a total menace to society!

I'm not a boy racer, I'm 30 years old and I've never had a conviction or even made a claim that was my fault.

I try to explain it's got a suspension LIFT (not lowered) and it's basically a FARM ute!

They don't understand that, all they see is "$ubaru" ..

I tell them it's fully certified for NZ roads, they have no idea what that means, even though it's required by NZ law for goodness sake!

But i guess thats what you get for dealing with desk jockeys!

Heh yea, Well I'm going in this afternoon after school, so we'll see what the outcome is.....

Well, WOF, REGO and 3RD party insurance....I'm quite proud of how well this all went....

Just need new fan belt/s cause its screeeching like an angry banshee sometimes.... And a decent cooling system flush....What do you guys suggest for a flush? Garden hose? I have acess to a little more if it really needs it:brow:

(firetruck, mehehe....)

They'll insure me for my commodore (which my ex just wrote off!!! ) (90kW), but when i ask about insuring a "turbo!!!" subaru (probably about 80kW standard).....oh no.
