Legacy parts interchangeability

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what year the first Legacy body switched to a different body style? I am picking up an early Legacy and there is a 94(?) in a junkyard near here. The car I am buying needs a few items that are rusted that on the junkyard car are real nice. Are the drivetrain and exhaust exchangeable also? Ya never know when you might need a spare part.....

Thanks all!

i believe that the first body change was in 95...... drivetrain is prettymuch interchangeable for all subarus, exhaust all depends on the motor, and what year

Thanks, I guess I have to look at the parts car a little closer.

Most of the drivetrain components are the same on the 90-94 legacies. However there was a body style update in 92. So mos body parts are not swappable between the 90-91 & 92-94 legacies.

And I thought this was going to be easy. The main part I need is the rear hatch. The older car has a rot spot right below the window.

Just picked up the 90 Legacy. I got the owner down to $225.00 for it. Put the plate on it and drove it home. Good deal. The great part is that the plate covers the hole in the rear hatch. I saw a post about a WRX shifter I think I will do once I fix a few other little glitches.
