Last Year og 4WD

Featured Replies

What is the last model year of Subarus with 4wd? I want to be on the lookout for one....to be used as a beach runner.

Thanks.....bgin

You should check in with the Older Generation board to see which model is best for you to get. I'm not sure which year Subaru switched from 4wd to AWD - it's mostly marketing speak for the same thing unless you're talking about the subies that came with a hi/lo range. I wouldn't mind finding one myself.

Actaully, It is not marketing speak.

There is a very real difference between 4wd and AWD

4wd is a 50/50 split front/rear power

AWD is not. it varies via a viscous coupling

the last year of the old bdy style is the 94 loyale.

these came with single range 4WD.. as stated below, the last year of the D/R was 88 .. in the US anyway

However, I belive that some of the first gen legacies were 4WD and not AWD. In that I am not positive though

Hi, I believe the last year of Hi-Lo was '88. I haven't seen anything later than that, Bradd
