April 20, 200619 yr I put in for a quote for an OB Sport on subaru.com. They sent me back a listing for a "2006 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Wagon" with the features I requested. Are they sticking the "Impreza" label in there just because the Outback is based on the Impreza, or are they quoting the wrong thing? Should I expect it to have raised suspension? I want to have my facts straight before I go see the dealer.
April 20, 200619 yr what you want is the legacy outback, which in these days its only called outback, the outback sport is the impreza and i think it does not have the raised suspension.
April 20, 200619 yr http://www.cars101.com is a good place to see differences in models. Spend some time there and you'll know more about what you're buying than 90% of the sales staff at any Subaru dealership. And I don't even mean a *lot* of time. Which one do you want, the mid sized car or little car? Legacies are the mid sized car. Outbacks (Legacy Outbacks) are the mid sized car with a small amount of lift and "raised suspension", gaining you some ground clearance. Imprezas are the little car. "Outback Sports" are Imprezas with very slightly taller springs and a two tone paint job. There is very little difference between Imprezas and "Outback Sports" as far as the suspension is concerned, it's really just a trim package. Did that help? Clear as mud, right? Steve
April 20, 200619 yr Author "Outback Sports" are Imprezas with very slightly taller springs and a two tone paint job. That's the one I want, the smaller two-tone hatchback with AWD. Thanks, looks like they quoted the right one after all.
April 20, 200619 yr Good choice. I love mine. not sure if the suspension is "lifted" but i parked my Outback Sport next to a regular Imprezza wagon and it looked about an inch taller at the fender. but could be tires or any number of other factors. I do know however that i only bottomed out once and i was doing somthing i shouldnt have anyway.
