New turbo for me Q's inside...

Featured Replies

I picked up a TD05 today from a friend who totalled his 1st gen Eclipse. I believe it is a 14G and is slightly larger than our stock turbo's (EA82T). It appears to be very similar and a easy swap.

Does anyone know anything about this turbo, and is it a good swap? It doenst have any front to back shaft play, and my friend said he was running 22Psi out of it. I think it would be a good safe upgrade.

the td05 on the eclipses uses a t3/t4 style exhaust inlet flange. you would need to modify the up-pipe flange. also you will need to fabricate an elbow for the intake tube, the td05 eclipse intake runs straight in.. the oil and water lines will just need to be modified to work, the downpipe flange at the turbo will also need to be modified, use a wrx unit with the flange from the eclipse..

hope this is a start..

Thanks, I guess I should have been more spacific in my questioning. I know the flanges have to be modified, and I need to make my up pipe a little more up.

I was thinking more of the lines of "safe" boost pressures, and if it is a worthy mod.

I found out today after cleaning it, it is a TD05H 16 G big boy. After reading on NASIOC, it apears this turbo is overkill for my little ea82T, and would probably be better suited for someone with the fuel, and aftermarket support in order to run it at its best potential.

the 16g is a lovely turbo.. you could get 200-250 for it on ebay.. i'm not terribly sure that even with supporting mods the ea82t could handle it.. not with stock heads atleast.. you could run an external wastegate and regulate it at 8-10psi

get some 280zx 83-85 nissan fool injectors too..

Thats what I thought. I know the standard WRX snail is a little smaller and that is why it works.

As far as supporting mods, I do have the Nissan injectors, WRX TMIC, and the motor is a JDM version with gen 3 heads...but I dont want to cook it. I think Ill just stick with the stock turbo, and run my 12 lbs, and call it a day.

Ill post it in the F/S forum first, along with some other goodies.

Thanks for the help.
