I've searched this forum thoroughly and have checked out http://www.cars101.com/subaru/keyless.html but i still can not find the answer to my question.

 

2002 forester, stock alpine alarm.

 

Basically, my alarm does not function as explained in the manual. I cannot set it to Valet mode. Sporadically it will not work at all, it will arm but i cannot disarm it using the fob and i have to open the door, turn the key 3 times, etc. I am thinking if that if i can 'reset' to its factory defaults maybe the issues will go away? Or is there anyway of completely disabling it?
