In my recently purchawsed 2000 Outback wagon, now with 88K, the transmission fluid was last changed about 50K ago. Not sure whether they used Dextron II or III, both of which are acceptable according to my owner's manual. I want to do a drain and refill; does it matter what I use? TIA.

I'd use Dex III and do a drain, refill, short drive at least 2x to insure you get most of the old fluid out. It's so easy to do, don't even have to jack the car up. My $.02.
