Q regarding Yakima roof rack installation

Featured Replies

Nothing but pictures, and abstract at that for instructions.

I have a 2002 Subaru Legacy Sedan, Q53 clips.

Apparently, I'm supposed to peel back a small section of the trim to install the clips. I put about 100 pounds of pressure to peel the trim back, but it is very rigid, and I dont' want to force things.

I could hook the clips onto the actual trim, but that doesn't match with the instructions.

Curious if anybody has any insight? I couldn't find an online version of the instructions to better describe my question.

Being that your car is a sedan, it doesn't have a roof rack. Meaning you can't get a low-rider assembly roof rack, much easier. This attaches to the factory rack. If I am not mistaken, your Q53 clips should be towers that attach into the rain gutter system of the car. Check and make sure that the clips are the proper make for your sedan. A lot of the time, some models seem close to fitting but they don't and can't because they are the improper model. Also, are you Q clips in the correct position before attaching them to the roof. Meaning are they fully open? Are other pieces in the correct position, etc. Good luck.
