intake gasket failure

Featured Replies

The passenger side intake gasket on my 95 legacy GT failed after only 5K miles. When I took the manifold off the gasket looked squashed and had cracked in several places. Did I over torque the manifold? What is the correct torque? Do people use sealant or not? Suggestions? Thanks!

Sounds right. Overtorquing those bolts is all too easy, use a good torque wrench on the new gaskets.

Thanks for the info. I guess I won't use the 3/4" impact gun this time and the 3 foot breaker bar is totally out of the question! :D
