So I had a CEL for the EGR valve and upon closer inspection the wires had been cut. I didnt have a extra so I grabbed a purge control valve and swapped the connectors... now the CEL flashes.... can I not use a purge control for the EGR or do I just have it plugged in backwards??

Don't know this for sure, but I read in a recent thread that the Purge solenoid works backwards from the EGR solenoid (one opens on power while the other one closes). Don't know why the ECU would know the difference, though.

 

Why not just stick a 68 ohm resister on it?
