I don't remember where I got my information, but I recall reading somewhere that all 2.2 liter Imprezas were autos in 1995.

the 2.2L in 1996 came standard with a manual.

 

I don't know for USA, but in Canada, there was the EJ18 engine with manual tranny for MY '97 impreza brighton.
