jeep5.9litre
My brothers 89 GL wagon is making a strange thuumping sound. The noise seems to be coming from the rear of the car. It only seems to do this after the car is warmed up but it also does it after the parking brake is pulled. Could this be an axle or a brake problem?? Bent rim?? 75subie
the parking brake is on the front wheels on subes, so it might be coming from the front. does this happen while the car is moving or when parked? when the motor is heated up or when the brakes heat up? maybe a warped or rusted rotor from sitting? jeep5.9litre
Ha! I wasnt sure if the newer GL's had the parking brakes on the front. It happens when the car is moving ..louder when first starting out then gradually dissapates when accelerating. It happens when the brakes and motor heat up it seems. I drove it for about 15 mins today and didnt hear it, but after I parked it out of habit I pulled the parking brake.
75subie
the only thing i can think of is an axle. either that or a shot caliper.
