'84 Brat Transmission

Featured Replies

I have a problem with the stick shift buzzing like it is on fire. This started happening after i swapped the engine with another one from the same model and year of brat. Above about 45mph it is really bad, but below, it is ok. I was previously told that it could be either the transmission mounts were bad, or the engine shaft had been rotated 180 degrees from what it should be. I replaced the mounts, but it is still buzzing really bad, and i dont understand how the rotation of the engine shaft would make it buzz like that. Any suggestions? I would like to get this fixed as soon as i can.

Check to see if your drive shaft is tight. I had some buzzing when it was loose and would vibrate as I approached freeway speeds.

Ive made sure that all the bolts connecting the engine to the transmission are tight. I can check again, but we made sure that it was connected well.

I meant the bolts that connect the drive shaft to the rear diff.

Good idea, we did replace it quite a while ago, and they might have loosened slightly. I will check them, but it concerns me that it happened basicly instantaneously after swapping the engine.
