Head rebuild kit- EA82

Featured Replies

My searches on web are ridiculous. I did this on a v8 with new seals springs and simply hand ground the valves to clean cheaply (and even upgraded to teflon valve seals). Is there such a kit for ea82?

head gasket set will include new valve stem seals which is all you need for a head job (not including the tools/supplies for doing a valve job). i have a shop do all my heads and they test the springs and have yet to find any out of specification...even on 150,000+ mile motors. i think new springs and valves are rarely needed.

Thanks. Is stretching springs an option  ? Or is there a means from another engine cross reference to get some new ones... I have overheated several times and don't trust original integrity-- even if they seem good.I have one cylinder with a leaky valve that goes away when warm (sounds like an exhaust leak if I didn't know any better). If you are certain, I'll just go with them. Are new head bolts a "must do" or just put bolts back in same spot? (that is what I did on a v8 I built if they weren't obviously bent).and lastly, lash adjusters -- do they last forever? If I am 1/4 of 1 quart down on oil, one lets me know...
