how reliable would a 1991 Legacy be?

Featured Replies

Lookin for a good beater basically, and I found a 91 Legacy for cheap. I figure it would be a great car in the snow, since MD is supposed to get HAMMERED this winter. Am I gonna have a lot of little quirks and stuff that goes wrong, or will it be close to a maintenance free car?

But for longevity and ease of repair (once you get used to the quirks) nothin' beats a Roo.

I'm currently in MD from Montana. Drove out here at 70-75 nonstop in an '87 GL 4WD with 205,000 + miles on the clock, with NO problems. Heading back to Montana this weekend, same car. I average 26-29 mpg on the interstate, 23-24 around town (I'm a traffic leadfoot).

Try that in your average american SUV.

Find a good indie mechanic (stay away from the Subaru Stealerships), where are you? I found a good mechanic in Glen Burne by calling a foriegn car parts store and asking for a recco. I had a wheel bearing going out; dealer $385.00 and two days, ol' George $185.00 and six hour in & out.

Get a pre-purchase inspection, if it checks out good buy it, you'll love it, and you can learn all about it right here! ANd remember Subarus like revs, and can take it, so wind up before you shift.

So it is an AWD, yes?

How much is it?

How many miles are on it?

5 Speed?

I bought my 90 Legacy for $200.00 with 198K! It had a bad tranny seal....replaced it and was good to go. Can't go wrong with a 2.2!!!

Now I am going to put it in my 5 spd Impreza and smoke some wanna-b-s!!!:burnout:

Josh!
