What should I pull from an '87 GL for a '92 Loyale?

Featured Replies

Well, apparently is is possible to blow EA82s spectacularly. A friend of mine with my old '87 GL had the engine die (it's apparently blowing oil smoke clouds out the front, spiking the temperature gauge, and barely turning over).

It has the dual range transmission, SPFI, and... that's about it. 4 channel stock stereo, and snow tires.

How much is the dual range worth on the aftermarket? And is it a bolt-in swap to a Loyale (I miss my D/R)?

I was thinking of snagging the map lights from the front, since I miss them on my car. Is the wiring there on a Loyale, or will it be a PITA?

Anything else I should pull?

Rear cargo area light. The maplight will plug in, grab the harness that runs down the drivers side A pilar.

The D/R will bolt in and should plug in too. The sensors have the same plugs, but sometimes the mini-harness on the tranny doesn't match. It's easy to swap your harness on.

If your loyale doesn't have the plastic left foot rest, grab that off of the other car too. Rear door speakers if you don't have those, the wiring for those is already there.

pretty much everything is different will work in your car. little things like the climate control switch is flat in the GL's and round in the loyales. theres the grey buttons on the climate control they will swap right over. dual rage swap is an easy swap. make sure you grab the mounting bracket from the dual range console your loyale will not have it and you need that to mount the console. and if you can find a dualrange lever from an 85 they are way cooler than they ugly ones after that
