I have an error P0065 - Air assisted injector range/performance.

 

What does this mean and do I have to take it to the dealer to get it fixed?

Last I had it on my 02 Forester, it was the Oxygen sensor. The Scan tool showed a slow response of the sensor which the ECM tries to compensate by opening the AIS valve more, but can't.

My '96 Legacy does this. My ace mechanic said it was reporting that the (pardon my non-tech language) thing that helps cool exhaust before it recirculates wasn't doing that. Not true, though! The thingie was working, just reporting wrong. I live with it. The Check Engine light goes off when this error is reset, or, most times, just whenever it feels like it.
