87 dl starts but wont go

Featured Replies

i just purchased an 87 dl wagon... it would not start at all.. replaced plugs, wire, cap and button.. it fired right up.. pulled it out on the road.. went fine till it just fell flat.. replaced the fuel pump and filter and still nothing... idles ok but when i hold it at 3 grand or so it stalls out... had my wife hold it to 3500rpm.. as it started to stall i poured gas straight into the carb and it picked back up... im at a loss and am new to subaru.... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated:-\

Set the timing to spec's. Also, you might want to replace the coil. I had a problem similar to this with my '84 Wagon, i replaced everything and even went and bought a new distributor (not cheap) and before I replaced the disty, i replaced the coil and it solved the problem.

Since you said you poured fuel into the carb and it picked up, maybe it could be a fuel filter or pump problem. But youve replaced those... so i doubt it was that.
