WRXenstein

Featured Replies

I have :

A) a rolled, cosmetically destroyed 1996 clubspec Rallye WRX (ie organ/parts donor)

B) an 1981 L series wagon

I want :

Everything cool and worthwhile from A) into B)

Where does the WRX stop and the GL wagon begin ?

Just the driveline ? Or axle to axle and driveline ?

I'm wondering if there are any recognised pitfalls to avoid.

Any clues or nuggets of hardwon wisdom will be much appreciated. Once I start this project, I'll do my best to keep a journal in the hope that I can help everyone else with other equally fun conversions. :)

cheers in anticipation fellas !

Beer supplied to anyone who comes to help :D

Engine swap w/stock EA tranny is an option however the EJ motor would probably kill the EA tranny.

There is a thread here of someone was combining a Outback Sport w/a BRAT

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34445&highlight=brat

It's been in the works for almost two years now.

The drivetrain might go in a little easier if you make a subframe that bolts to the EA mounting points and then bolt the EJ parts to the subframe.

I put a EA82 crossmember w/PS to my BRAT. I used the lift block as an adapter b/c the mounting holes for the two are different.

Good luck
