Well, through the search function I've found that my "new" '91 Legacy has the "Lock Remote" problem, where the passenger lock doesn't fully unlock with the power locks, and pulling the door handle causes the door to lock.

 

I've read the write-up for the "fix" to it, and don't really have the time/skills to do that.

 

Anyone know the part number for the OEM replacement, so I can see if they're still available?

The HobbyGary write up is very easily done. It took me like an hour to do both the back doors (most of that was spent disassembling the darn door). The OEM parts would be bloody expensive and would be just as likely to break again.

That's what the RX-7 owners said about the FPD banjo bolt mod. After looking at it I determined I was enough of a spast-o-tard that I couldn't do it, and the $180 I paid a mechanic to do it was money well spent.

I assure you, the entire job, from start to finish, could be done in two hours. Mind you, I'm a 19 yo college student who isn't very mechanically inclined, but I did those doorlocks.

...and I'm a 50+ year old fart and I did this also. It took me barely an hour to do 2 locks. The explanation made me go HUH!? but after I took the door handle unit out the lite went on. I have 4 perfectly working auto-lock now!.

I did all 4 locks on my wife's car. As Manarius wrote, biggest effort is removing and replacing door panel. Once you remove the latch/lock mechanism, things get pretty obvious. BTW, I found that either dental floss or a cotter pin worked really well, both being flatter than regular wire.

If you don't want to do it yourself. Try and find a friend that could help you, or possibly see if there's another board member in your area that could help. Or, print out the info from Gary's site, take it to a mechanic, and tell them to fix it.
