myshoeisonfire Posted January 10, 2007 Share Posted January 10, 2007 Ok so I just bought this 1993 legacy 4 door car.. front wheel drive with an auto tranny. It leaks a stream of tranny fluid about the diameter of a pencil anytime the engine is running. I crawled under there and looked - it seemed it was coming from the tranny pan! no big deal - changed out the filter and pan gasket... STILL LEAKS! So i got a closer look - there is a "slot" between the tranny and where it connects to the differential - and the fluid is coming out of there - I imagine that means the front seal on the tranny is leaking. and also - the gear oil dipstick is red like its leaking into there. So how hard is this seal to replace? (assuming thats the issue) I always do my own work - but im feeling kinda lazy - plus I have a sloping gravel driveway at the moment (hard on jacks)- if i could get a tranny shop or someone to do it for $350 or so - Id just pay them to do it. any thoughts / suggestions? thanks! -Dan Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
