EA81 idle issues

Featured Replies

Hey everyone this problem has slowely crept up on me. I used the search function and couldnt seem to find the exact same problem. When my car idles it idles about 900 rpms in neutral but goes up to 1000 and back down to 900 every few seconds. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Other than the idle this car runs mint...and pulls harder than any EA81 that ive driven (having only driven autos before :-\ ). Maybe its time for a tune up? The plugs are only about 6 months old. As for the wires rotor and cap they are older but were replaced shortly before i got the car two years ago.

Sounds like a possible choke problem. check to see if its adjusted right.

Have u ever rebuilt the carb. Sometimes when they get a lot of miles on em,

they get dirt and contaminents inside. Look down the carb when its idleing and see if there is any fuel dribbling out of the secondary jet. If there is I would suggest a rebuild.

this is a roo builders rebuild with about 7-10 thousand miles on it. It seems to run great other than that. Ill look into the choke though when i get a chance.

Hmm i replaced them not too long ago but the one near the tank looked a bit gross when i was down there. I think ill try replacing them when i get a chance. Thanks.

Yea, I had a problem with that paticular one in my 85 hatch. That is the actual filter, the one under the hood is the seperator but is basicly a secondary filter. mine pluged up and gave me this hardcore high RPM miss bull ************. That was fun.
