January 16, 200719 yr Ugh...So I think that my car's firing order is off.....has anyone ever come across an issue with a 1.8 91 Subaru Loyale Firing Order Problem? We replaced the spark plug wires, and it starts up once, but then will die....Try to start again, and it usually does eventually, but not enough for the car to actually run. Is this image, correct? http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~V8057970~C37116~R0~OB0~P2R0H~N/0/34870051/56621554/56624141/89377984/34853741/100411974/34853743/58948513/58800613/92848850/92848851
January 17, 200719 yr Yup. Make sure the plug wires are not only routed correctly, but that you have positively snapped each one onto the plugs, and fully seated in the distributor. When I replaced my wires with Magnecor wires, I had to trim a bit of the rubber boot on the plug ends in order to fully seat the wire to the plug.
January 17, 200719 yr The fact that it starts up sometimes means that your firing order is probably A-OK. Is all you did change spark plugs and wires? Verify that you didn't knock any hoses loose or electrical connector. Is the Check Engine light on when the car starts?
January 17, 200719 yr Author Yes the CEL is on...but it always has been. Even when the car worked properly.
January 17, 200719 yr Verify that you didn't knock any hoses loose or electrical connector. Is the Check Engine light on when the car starts? Good advice. Especially any black vacuum hose connected to the engine side of your air filter airbox. A bad vacuum leak can cause the problem you describe.
