January 26, 200719 yr I've just searched 9 pages of threads looking for a very simple answer:dead: . Can my buddy with an 83/84 turbo car replace his turbo with an EA82 turbo:confused: . If so, is there any thing "wierd" I should let him know about:confused: . Thanks, Tim PS if I read one more "can I put a turbo into a non-turbo car" thread I may have to some one . Later, Tim
January 26, 200719 yr Author Thanks Mike, I never even looked in the older gen forum:rolleyes: . Later, Tim
January 27, 200719 yr Yeah my Brat has exactly that. I didn't fit it, but AFAIK all that you need to do is plumb water to it, the rest is the same.
January 27, 200719 yr Tim, that depends upon whether the turbo in the EA81T was replaced per the recall. If it was, then it should be that same as the EA82T. The original EA81T turbos were only oil cooled, the replacement were oil and water cooled.
January 27, 200719 yr Though you can run a water cooled turbo without water. (there was a debate in an earlier thread on this) So even if it is water cooled, you can hook it up without the water and then plumb in the water later when you have more time/money.
January 29, 200719 yr Author Thanks guys, I've recomemended to my buddy to try and find a straight over swap. If it was me (and some day it might be) I'd be all over it. Dan (some of you might remember him from WCSS III) is far better suited to tinkering with Buicks . Thanks again for the tips, Tim
